Movement Background: As a professionally trained ballet dancer, Marie has spent her whole life focusing on creative expression through movement. She believes that movement is the key to a fulfilling life and that there is a movement style for everyone. A commitment to movement and wellness led her to develop her own barre class, Move It Barre (formerly Ballet Fitt) in addition to pursuing certifications in Pilates through Balanced Body University®. Her dance training includes programs at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Ballet Chicago, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and American Ballet Theatre. In high school, she attended the year-round program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts where she was chosen by Melissa Hayden to dance in Balanchine’s Serenade with the Carolina Ballet. While dancing at Southold Dance Theater, guest artist Yves de Boutellier set an original work on the company featuring Marie after which she was invited to join Ballet Wisconsin. After high school, she was a member of the Southold Dance Theater Adult Ensemble which toured elementary schools. In college, she choreographed for and performed with the African American Dance Company at Indiana University as well as the Franklin and Marshall Dance Company and presented her choreographic work at the American College Dance Festival. Her performance credits locally include Grant Street Dance Company, Rev9 Dance Company, and Remote Dance Company.
Favorite Thing About Barre: I chose to develop my own barre style that integrates choreography stylistically and focuses on a neutral spine anatomically, because I wasn't able to find another barre method out there that offers these components. My favorite thing about Move It Barre is the creative energy behind each class.
How You Like to Move It: When I'm not moving it at the studio, I spend a lot of time babywearing my 7 month old as I go about my day. Walking around Lititz or Lancaster and seeing the sights with her is a pleasure.
What Motivates You: I'm motivated by the smiles I see on each client's face and the sense of accomplishment I see them walk out of the studio with every day!
Movement Background: Growing up, I took ballet classes off and on from the age of a tiny tot to the end of high school. I stopped dancing when I went to college, and it wasn’t until mid-way through graduate school at the age of 28 when I realized that I needed dance in my life. I found a local dance studio and started taking as many dance and barre classes as I could, and developed a full-blown ballet/barre addiction. When I completed graduate school, I mounted a solo art exhibition that incorporated dance performances by myself, and a small local dance company. Dance has become part of my daily life, and a part of my art practice. I plan to continue exploring movement and dance for as long as I am physically capable.
Favorite Thing About Barre: My favorite thing about Move It Barre is how it changes my brain. Coming to the studio and focusing on my body and breath distances me from the stress of normal life. By the end of class, my stress has melted off and I feel amazing.
How You Like to Move It: I like to move it in ballet class! Most evenings if I am not at Move It Studio, I am in ballet class. Stretching is something that I try to do at home – it really helps me to relax and stay flexible. I also LOVE to take walks and go for hikes. My favorite place to go for a walk is Landis Woods.
What Motivates You: I am ultimately motivated by the desire to move. I need to feel my body move and be in the world- to experience the world through my body. I am also motivated by wonder and the magic of dance. I love to watch live dance performance and dance videos; seeing the beauty of dance motivates me to progress my dance abilities.
What Else People Should Know: Music is one of my favorite parts about dance and teaching at Move It Studio. I grew up in a family of classical musicians, and have a background as a classical violinist.
Movement Background: Bethany started dance when she was 2 years old and hasn't stopped since! Her training includes ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, pointe, hip hop and modern, but with a specialty in contemporary. A recent college graduate, she holds a BA degree in Dance from Messiah College, and has spent time training at the Koresh School of Dance in Philadelphia, as well as in New York City at the Rockette Summer Intensive, Broadway Dance Center and the Juilliard School for the NYCDA Winter Intensive. She loves the expression and artistry dance brings, and loves that she can continue feeling the joys of dance through barre!
Favorite Thing About Barre: I love everything about barre I can't pick one favorite! It's a full body workout that's challenging and intense, but is never boring always keeps me engaged. I leave class with a feeling of new energy and that I just accomplished something big!
How You Like to Move It: I love to dance whether it's performing or just for fun! In addition to dance, I cross train by distance running, lifting, hiking and, of course, barre!
What Motivates You: Meeting and getting to know people! I love hearing people's stories and seeing their journeys. I'm motivated by the contagious energy I feel from the clients and teachers at Move It!
What Else People Should Know: I love to laugh and smile, and am known by the people around me as a total optimist! I thrive on getting happy from the little successes in a day, and I see life as a learning experience that's an adventure every step of the journey!
Movement Background: Devon has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She graduated with a BA degree in dance from James Madison University in 2015. At school, she danced with the Virginia Repertory Dance Company and performed in NYC, Richmond, and Washington DC. She also studied in London, England for a summer and with the American Dance Festival for an intensive in NYC. Devon recently moved back to Lancaster after teaching at Philly Power Yoga and Thrive Fitness.
Favorite Thing About Barre: I love everything about Move It Barre but I especially love how it centers on musicality. I also love the high repetition and the way it works muscles very specifically.
How You Like to Move It: I LOVE to dance whether it is onstage or around the house. I also love yoga, Pilates, hiking and Move It Barre (obviously!!!).
What Motivates You: Movement always motivates me. I love leaving a workout feeling accomplished and alive. Passionate people also motivate me and I love surrounding myself with interesting humans.
What Else People Should Know: I am a pretty spunky person and I love to sing along with the music while I’m teaching. I also love talking to people and leaning about their life esperiences!
Movement Background: I started dancing at three years old. My dance background includes ballet, tap and jazz, and I studied for several years under a Rockette. I enjoy spin and yoga, but have fallen in love with barre. I am a devoted dancer and enjoy pushing myself in class.
Favorite Thing About Barre: Move It Barre offers a creative workout that you can't find anywhere else. My favorite part about Move It Barre is that all of the movements in class are done to the beat. It's a full body workout and I always finish feeling reinvigorated. And thanks to Move It Barre, my collection of songs has grown significantly!
How You Like to Move It: I try to take Move It Barre 1-2 times a week. When I'm not at Move It Studio, I like leaving the car behind and walking to my destinations. I love fresh air and getting the heart pumping. I'm also a big traveler. I love to explore new and old places on foot.
What Motivates You: Since taking Move It Barre, I am physically and mentally stronger. My balance has improved and so has my attitude toward getting a work out in. Cute athletic wear is also a huge motivator!
What Else People Should Know: I am a people person. I'd love to talk to you after class about why you like to Move It.
Movement Background: Lindsay began dancing locally at the age of 4, and immediately fell in love with dance. She trained in many styles over the years and was a founding member of both Cobalt and Rev9 Dance Companies here in Lancaster, PA. Movement, fitness, and dance have always been an integral part of Lindsay’s life, and she welcomes this opportunity to spread her love of movement through teaching barre class.
Favorite Thing About Barre: I love everything about barre!!! I specifically love how barre classes are carefully choreographed to music allowing for more artistic touches while also giving you an incredible, muscle-building workout. Anybody can do barre and feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of class. For me personally, barre has rounded out my life and brought back the movement component that I had been missing since beginning my career as a speech-language pathologist.
How You Like to Move It: I am happiest when I am moving it!! Whether that’s taking or teaching barre class, going for a walk or hike, jumping on an elliptical, or dancing around my apartment- I love moving!

Movement Background: Marianne has been taking dance classes since the age of 5, specifically ballet, tap, jazz, and modern. During college, Marianne attended Penn State and received a minor in Dance. She was also heavily involved in two dance companies where she held leadership positions, choreographed, and performed throughout State College. While completing her master’s degree at Penn State, Marianne was an adjunct professor of dance and taught both jazz and ballet to undergraduate students. Marianne’s favorite aspect of dance is teaching and choreographing.
Favorite Thing About Barre: I love that I get an awesome workout while also feeling like I’m taking a dance class.
How You Like to Move It: I like to take dance classes, attend Move It Barre classes, and go for long walks around Lancaster.
What Motivates You: I’m motivated to help people! I’m a counselor by day and a Barre teacher by night. Both areas allow me to help people in two very different ways.
What Else People Should Know: I’m excited to meet new people and be a part of the Move it Barre community!
Movement Background: Meghan has a background in dance, yoga, and Pilates. She's been teaching yoga in the Lancaster area for 18 years in addition to her personal workouts in everything from spinning, to Zumba®, to barre.

Movement Background: A homegrown Lancaster County dancer, Regina has been dancing since the age of two. She continued to pursue her passion throughout high school and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Dance from Adelphi University. After doing some freelance work in NYC, she moved back to Lancaster and teaches Modern and Jazz at Footprints Performing Arts. Regina joined the Move It Team originally working the front desk, but fell in love with Move It Barre so much that she had to become a teacher!
Favorite Thing About Barre: My favorite thing about barre is that choosing music that clients can sing along to as they sweat and move! There is nothing more fun than forgetting how much your arms and legs are burning because you are lost in the rhythm of the music. Choosing music with a strong beat and empowering words helps me to motivate clients to push themselves.
How You Like to Move It: Grocery aisles are a particularly fun place to dance, but I currently dance semi-professionally with Grant Street Dance Company, Barefoot Dance Company and NetCo Dance Company, as well as being a freelance choreographer in the area and my works have been performed at national dance competitions, Downtown Dances Lancaster and Warwick Senior High School! Besides dance, I like to move it in any way, in any place! I try to take Move It Barre from the other incredible teachers at least three times a week and I hike and swim regularly!
What Motivates You: I am motivated by a challenge and passion; having overcome a serious injury, I have put all my efforts into celebrating having a second chance to move the way I want to in a safe and effective way!
What Else People Should Know: My goal as a Move It teacher is to inspire you to be confident about you! Barre is for everyone, so let yourself be free and discover how amazing YOU are! I am very open for client input, so keep those music requests coming!
