Mat Pilates (Traditional)

Mat Pilates emphasizes proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and concentration on flowing movements. Pilates conditions the whole body, training several muscle groups at once. By focusing on the quality of how you’re moving, you can re-train your body. It sets you the path to success in whatever you do! Injury recovery, sports performance, optimal health, it’s all there waiting for you on your mat.

Maintaining the principles of Pilates, this class is designed to flow from one exercise to the next using the mat and a variety of props. Each exercise is choreographed with the music to give clients a new perspective on Mat Pilates exercises. It’s Pilates, the Move It way. We recommend taking at least three traditional classes before jumping in so that you won’t scratch your head when we send you into Teaser with a Theraband!

Beginners, new to the studio, returning after an injury or time off? This is for you. In this class students are introduced to the basics of the traditional reformer work while developing a familiarity to the equipment. We swear the Pilates Reformer isn’t a torture device! We know it can be intimidating. We’ll help you learn all you need to know to lay the foundation in a consistent Pilates Reformer routine.

This class will flow through the traditional reformer repertoire while integrating intermediate level where appropriate for the entire group.
Students will develop strength and balance as they learn new skills on the Pilates Reformer. This class is deliberately-paced, and our expert teachers will lead the class through the challenge that works best for each student.

This class incorporates rhythm, dynamics, and flow through transitions of Pilates Reformer exercises. Meant for students with experience on the reformer and mat, this class builds even more stamina and breath-capacity. Pilates is a challenge no matter what, this class is for those with a strong foundation ready to take the next step.

For him, mastering each Pilates exercise was more important than getting through a whole routine. This approach is a luxury for most. Our goal with Pilates at Move It is to invite more people into the movement community we love. We offer mat classes, reformer classes, and use other equipment and props to bring you the best in a supportive, uplifting environment. We are the only Pilates studio in Lancaster that offers comprehensive Pilates teacher training. We're also the only Pilates studio that offers music-based Mat Pilates. Because it's the Move It way to think about the big picture.
