It had been ten years since I had my first child and I had slowly gained weight. I was balancing intense work hours and family, forgetting to allow time for me and my own health. A great friend of mine, Jeannette Hines, invited me to a barre class. I remember that I started to text her four excuses of why I couldn't go to class that day, I erased my message and replied, "See you there." I have been hooked ever since.
I love so many things about barre, but mostly the positive energy and music. I enjoy seeing new and old friends in class. It is a bonding experience as we are all taking on new challenges and continuing to encourage each other in each barre class. The changes I have seen in my body, my happiness, and improved health are what motivate me to keep coming back to Move It Studio.
Besides a great playlist from the fantastic music played in barre class, I have gained a healthier lifestyle. I have lost over 30 pounds in the past year and I attribute that to barre class and a healthier diet. My cholesterol has dramatically improved. I have also seen how the changes in my body have encouraged my friends and colleagues to try barre class along with lifestyle changes.
I actually talk to people every day about trying barre class. I tell them how much it has improved my health. We all have the same excuse that we do not have enough time. Barre class is only 55 minutes of your time, and we all have 55 minutes in a day to make our lives healthier. But more than that, it is a fun way to tone your body, lose weight, have fun, and focus on yourself for just a little bit each day. Barre makes me a better mom, wife, doctor and friend. I have less stress and more happiness in the past year after starting barre at Move It Studio...thanks to Marie, Regina and all of the other great instructors.
